Amazon.com Product Description
The Pentax DCF WP II 10 x 42 binocular (black) offers a 10x magnification in a high performance, full-sized, water resistant body, that has a sleek black finish to help keep you hidden from your target. The DCF WP II high-performance binocular features a simplified body design and an extremely durable, lightweight aluminum alloy encased in a full-body rubber housing to protect the optics and inner mechanisms from external shock and assure a firm, comfortable hold.
The DCF WP II combines multi-coated optical elements and high-refraction BaK4-glass roof prisms, and is treated with phase-chated coating plus a new super-reflection coating to ensure a high-resolution, high-contrast image over the entire image field. Protective glass is incorporated in front of the objective focusing elements to prevent the intrusion of dust into the nitrogen-filled inner body, which helps the DCF WP II offer JIS Class 6 fully waterproof (submersible to 3.3 feet) capability for use around the water and in the rain. And as if that's not enough, the rubber housing and the protective glass also serve to upgrade the weather resistance on these binoculars, while the inner-focus optical design adds to the durability. These binoculars feature a helicoid eyepiece ring with four-click stops that give the most comfortable eye relief, and click-stop adjustments that lock in the right eyepiece diopter. The fully multi-coated lenses not only increase light transmission and color quality, but provide for long eye-relief for viewing with or without glasses. This unit weighs 28.2 ounces, measures 5 x 2.2 x 5.7 inches (W x H x D), and is backed by a manufacturer's limited lifetime warranty.

Customer Reviews
Great Binos Pentax DCF WP binoculars are great. I bought mine about 4 years ago. I have been very pleased. I was considering Leica and Swarovski in addition to these. The only advantage I found with Swarovski is that the lens protection covers are an actual engineered part of the system and work great. No covers are provided for the objectives with Pentax. I use mine allot in the rain and snow so this is important to me. However at about 1/3 the price and with very comparable performance, I chose the Pentax. I have not regretted this one bit. I bought some flip up caps from the local sporting goods store that work pretty well for about $30.
They are also very good at gathering light. Before dawn and in twilight is when these excel. The rubber coating is very comfortable and durable. The retractable eye cups also work very well. I wear glasses and switch between looking through the Binos with my glasses on and off. They adjust quickly and are a durable design.
I use the binoculars in tough conditions and don't worry about them as much as I would if I spent over a thousand bucks on them. They have been a great asset, and based on their performance over the last 4 years, I am sure the will last me for the next 30+ years.
LOOKY-LOO's BMW. If you have a beer budget but champagne taste, then buy the over thousand dollar Zeiss, Leica, or Swarovski binoculars! But, for quality per dollar spent, you can't go wrong with these. I had their compact 10x28's, but wanted more light gathering ability in low dusk type conditions. Since I don't backpack anymore, I didn't need the light weight of the compact. But these are not "heavy" by any means. 10 power is about the limit for a hand held optical instrument, but that's all I've ever used, so I'm comfortable with it. The quality of these optics will allow you use them all day without undue eye fatigue. A very good quality binocular, in my opinion.
Execellent The clarity and optics of the binoculars is exceptional. Focus is instant and the range is the best I've seen. This is definitely an exceptional value for the price. I would highly recommend this item to any level of user. I'm a bird watcher and for my purpose they are the best so far.
