Even though video and still images have different color requirements, DIGIC DV II digital signal processing ensures optimal image quality for both video and still images. Thanks to DIGIC DV II image processing, the DC330 produces video with improved color reproduction -- especially in skin tones, and dark and light scenes. It also uses a hybrid noise reduction system that employs two types of noise reduction -- for images that are crystal clear.

Smooth zoom control With this innovative feature, you can always be sure of smooth, steady, professional looking zoom shots. Simply select one of three pre-set zoom speeds. You can also select variable so you can control the speed manually.

Level Shot and Grid Markers It's easy to keep your DC330 level for more professional-looking video. Simply press the Level Shot Control button, and a horizontal marker appears in your viewfinder. Then line up any horizontal lines in your shot to the marker and you know your camcorder is level. The Grid marker is also very convenient for setting up the special balance in your shots. the mini-dvds shown do NOT work with this camcorder

I don't know why amazon includes the sony mini-dvds on this page, because they do NOT work with this camera! I ordered them based on amazon's recommendation and they are not compatible. I'm having a tough time finding a mini dvd-rw that will work with the camera. Otherwise, it is ok. The movie editing software isn't very easy though, but the picture quality is fantastic. Colors are true to life and recording is easy. My two complaints are mini-dvd-rw issue and crappy software for editing.

UPDATE: Spoke to Canon and now know the difference is the plus/minus! This camcorder requires DVD-R/RW (notice minus sign) and cannot use the DVD+R/RW (notice plus sign). When purchasing mini dvds make sure to get the minus and then just about any brand should work (verbatim definitely does).

Great Camera

I have camcorders since 1987 and this one is great. I like the DVD recording where I can see what I just recorded direct on my TV, via my DVD. The size is very small, however the buttons are fine. Good quality for the price. For the record: My experience with Canon customer service has been great in the past: Free service on my A95 and A75 digital cameras, even after the warranty expired (black LCD screen).

Great Zoom - Sharp Focus

This is an amazing camera. I don't know the picture quality of an HD camcorder, but in comparison this camera is an excellent buy for the price. Perhaps I'll buy an HD in a few years when the price drops.
Only warning about buying from Amazon - be careful with recommended accessories - make sure you purchase mini DVD's and not regular DVD's as I mistakenly did.
I have not taken single frame pictures with it yet and suspect that the 1 MP quality will not be great, but I have an excellent digital camera and do not need the multiple capability. I purchased the camera primarily for wildlife video and think it will do an excellent job.
