This product includes patented and other proprietary technology and will operate only with JVC Data Battery. Remote control Provided remote control to operate Everio from a distance for playback, DVD burning, etc., just like a DVD deck. HDD protection and stability To safeguard the hard disk drive from shocks and vibrations, the Everio has a Floating Suspension System that effectively dampens vibrations through polymer shock absorbers. Also incorporated is a Gravity Sensor System that automatically senses sudden acceleration such as in a free fall situation, and turns off the power to defend the hard disk so that a head crash can be avoided even when the unit is dropped. *Note: Operation of hard disk drive protection is not guaranteed against all cases of chock or accident. DV output The DV out terminal (Firewire, i.LINK, IEEE1394) on the Everio Dock enables easy dubbing to an external DVD/HDD recorder, and also allows digital-to-digital dubbing of Everio footage to a computer for advanced non-linear editing using third party software. Simple A/V connection Just hook-up to a TV using the provided AV cable and enjoy Everio's DVD-quality picture on a large-screen TV. Or connect directly to a VCR or DVD recorder for easy copying of Everio movie clips to a VHS tape or DVD disc. Nice camera but beware of the file format
By J. Davison
I really like this camera. It is compact, shoots nice stills and has good sound qualities. The interface is intuitive and I was tweking settings right out of the box with little or no reference to the manual. It is perfect for quick family videos and fits in a small camera bag, making it easy to transport. The problem is when you shoot long videos and want to edit them down. I have found that for my purposes the .MOD format this camera produces is old and has to be converted to .avi or .wmv for the sort of editing I want to do. That means a very long conversion process through the supplied software, which I did not find particularly usable or helpful. The autofocus also has issues indoors in medium lighting and the image stabilization is not the best out there. If you want a happy cam to grab shots of the family and friends, then this is a really good buy. Otherwise, spend the extra and go for a unit that has more flexibility with its video outputs. I started out loving this camera , but every day I find something else I dislike about it.

Best Price to Value!!!!
By S. Negami
I got his camera for $600, and it was a great purchase. First, the camera is very compact which makes it easy to carry around. Even with its size, it has a 30GB storage and a 10x opitical zoom. I like the f/1.8 Konica Minolta lens, which focuses very quickly and takes some great-looking still photos. The 7-megapixel sensor also helps with its recording. Videos are recorded in MPEG format so it is very esay to transfer onto your computer for editing; no conversion necessary. Colors were very pleasing and white balance was also good. Definitely worth purchasing
